This question sits at the heart of our new study on Hindu Religious Entrepreneurship. For much of the past century, Hinduism and its indigenous knowledge systems were framed as anachronistic and relegated to the private sphere. Meanwhile, the professional and entrepreneurial domain became increasingly shaped by capitalist rationality and assumptions rooted in the Protestant ethic. The result, as scholars describe, is a form of compartmentalised mind or double consciousness: entrepreneurs often navigate a subtle conflict between their cultural intuitions and the mental models considered legitimate within modern business practice. Amidst this tension, our study asks a deeper question: How does entrepreneurial intention rooted in Hindu thought emerge, and how is it ultimately translated into new venture creation? Dr. Venkata Chaganti is a physicist, educator, Vedic scholar, and founder of the University of Applied Vedic Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Georgia State University, USA (2015), where his research focused on the optical and electrical properties of quantum dots. Prior to his doctoral work, he earned an M.S. from the University of Texas at El Paso and a B.E. in Engineering from Osmania University, India. As an educator, Dr. Chaganti taught undergraduate physics (both classroom and laboratory courses) in multiple U.S. colleges for over a decade.

Beyond modern science, Dr. Chaganti is deeply engaged in Vedic scholarship and research spanning more than 30 years. He has independently studied core Indian philosophical and scriptural texts, including the Vedas, Upanishads, Darshanas, Puranas, and epic literature. He explores intersections between ancient knowledge and modern science, including projects aimed at environmental applications of Vedic yajnas to address issues such as air pollution, storms, hurricanes, COVID-like situations, etc.
